Raptor thoughts(by Alex MacMillan) ch. 21-25

I wasn’t completely surprised about how the trial turned out. The town was relatively racist so no matter how much evidence there was to prove that he didn’t do it the guy still would have been guilty. He could have been miles away with ten witnesses with solid stories and still would have been guilty. I was surprised that Dill was never taught how to swim. So it made since that Jem immediately made Dill come down with him to teach him

“He’s not trying to mock you, he’s trying to be polite” (Lee 182). Judge Taylor told Mayella this when she was on trial. Mayella claimed that Atticus was mock her by calling her ma’ and miss. When in reality Atticus was only being polite. Atticus is polite to everyone inside or outside the courtroom that is just the way he is. Judge Taylor said Atticus has always been like that in the court room, to Mayella. The quote shows how uncustom it is for Mayella to be call ‘Miss’. Plus It shows how good of a character Atticus is; he’s a nice guy. Judged Taylor let the court know Atticus did not mock her or sass her. Atticus then went on with the proceedings and went back to the case.

Power to the Gavel (by Aarron Albright)

This section is all about the courtroom discussion about Tom Robinson’s case. Personally I can understand the racism around the case, but that doesn’t affect the case itself. Atticus is a good man to go through with the case no matter what people say or threaten. To be honest, Atticus’s case pretty much made a certain ninteen-year-old look a little silly. The only thing about court that makes things fair is when we hear both sides of a story.

Raptor thoughts (by Alex MacMillan) ch. 17-20

These chapters got me very interested in the book. The way Atticus kinda tricked the truth out of the witnesses was remarkable. I also thought how everybody treated the people were treating Aticus. The points that Aticus got the witnesses to addmit made perfect sense. So I think he made a strong case for his client. When he got the sheriff to admit it was the girls right side that got banged up when the guy didn’t have much of left side

Spade’s thoughts (By Aarron Albright) Ch.17-20

The Tom Robinson case is heating up to the third degree. First off Atticus is doing what he does best, waiting for the right moment to strike. So far in the case, he has questions that don’t seem to relate to the case, asked questions twice, and even reviewed what has been said. From what I can see, he’s attacking this case little by little at a time. Don’t you agree that if you answer little questions “truthfully” you might be digging your own grave in the case. Anyways, in a case, you never truly know if someone is still telling the truth. For instance Tom and Mayelle had different views on the event that had happened that day. Honestly, I could think of plenty of reasons to go with Tom Robinson. Overall, he’s just being discrimminated against which is the only true thing against him in the case.

Chewbacc4dude’s thoughts (by richard steiner) ch. 17-20

I think the Tom Robinson case was justified because i believe that he was innoccent. Tom Robinson was proven innocent of raping Mayelle. My own thoughts that just because he was a black man he was tried for guilty of raping her. Racism took a big part in this case because it may have never happened if Tom robinson was a white man. But even though he was a black man, Atticus stuck to the case believing he was not guilty. This shows how good Atticus’s character is in the book. He is a very fair man to anyone and should not be critisized by anyone for defending Tom Robinson.

Spade’s thoughts (By Aarron Albright) Ch. 13-16

I just wasn’t too surprised when I read about Jem and Scout’s Aunt Alexandra coming to live with them for a while. That’s because with some of the events at the reunion, something like this could be predicted. At one time I let my cousins stay at my house, only I was expecting them to come. Atticus was the only one who knew about her visit. He should’ve told them about her visit. Scout (in my view) was right not to say she didn’t want her around. Even still, she made friends with everyone pretty fast and developed a routine. the original reason for her visit was to have “feminine influence” around. What reason would you have for living at another family member’s house for “a while?”

“We decided that it would be best for you to have some feminine influence.” (Lee 127)
Aunt Alexandra has just come to visit so Scout asked why. She said that Scout and Jem were growing up so Scout needs some girls around so she’ll actually start acting like one. This quote is basically the exact oppisite of what Scout wants to here. She has always been teased into doing things by being called a girl and she never liked dresses cause she couldn’t do anything

Raptor thoughts (by Alex Mac Millan) ch. 10-12
May 15th, 2009 by raptor1234567890
The first chapter I found out more about Atticus. I was surprised that he was able to shoot a dog from that far without glasses and in an instant. When He and sheriff were arguing who should shoot the dog I got really confused. I also understand why Atticus doesn’t use a gun that often even though he’s really good. I also learned how mean Jem can get if he were to get angry. When Atticus came in I was very surprised that Mrs. Dubose was setting the time for longer and longer. It was also interesting to learn that Mrs. Dubose was a morpheme addict and that she wanted to quit when before she died. It was surprising that she continued to insult their father and them when they were helping her quit. She must have really hated the fact that Scout didn’t wear a dress and that Atticus was a lawyer for an African-American. So many parts of this chapter surprised me that I lost count after 10.

Quote Response (By Richard Steiner) Ch. 10-12

“She said you lawed for niggers and trash.” Page 103 Chapter 11
Jem defends himself to Atticus about how Mrs. Dubose was talking trash about their family. She criticized on the fact that scout was a tom-boy and how their father Atticus was a lawyer for a black man. This was a very normal but racist remark that comes from anyone back in the 1930′s. As Jem was not offended by the fact that this was a racist comment but because it was towards Atticus he got extremely angry. Scout and Jem are very offended when people especially when adults criticize Atticus of being a nigger lover. For Jem did not withdraw his feelings about the rude remark he tore up her flower bed.
